Tracking the Untraceable (PG-13)
Long ago, the world lived in harmony. There was peace and the great kingdom was strong. In the center of the kingdom stood the great city, Apharrodell, where the Queen ruled with wisdom, honor and greatness. Life could not be better in the kingdom. There was nothing less than peace.
Then, in the depth of the knight, the Queen died. No one could explain it. Just, in the middle of the night, they found the heirless woman dead. There was no sign of murder, but no one could explain how this healthy woman could have just died in her youth.
Scared and confused, the kingdom fell into chaos. Crime started showing up in the quarters farther from the castle. Illness seemed to cover the city like a blanket. The crop was killed by a snow storm in spring. Apharrodell was falling apart before their very eyes.
One day, a year after the Queen's death, a man came. He said he could lead the kingdom back to greatness. Accompanying him were two great beasts of which the kingdom have never seen the like. These creatures came into the name Drexhound, after their dark coats. They were powerful creatures, but obeyed the man's every word. Not at once, but close.
Lost and in terrible need of a leader, the people appointed him King. And that's when things started to look like they were turning up. The crime vanished, as punishments became steep and heavy to pay. The farming carried one in new cavern fields in the Anteris mountains, a short mountain range to the west. Cures for illnesses were found. People could work and live in peace again.
Then, things began to go down hill. Quotas were raised. Human were barely ever seen working outside the castle. Soon, they nearly vanished from living there and then to not at all. Animals like the ones we find on Earth left the city. Poverty crept over the land as the King started taking for himself, forcing more and more labor.
This is when the people knew things were going bad. People rebelled his rule, trying to take back their land. These people were usually never seen again, either killed, captured to a life of service or exiled in conditions worthy of death in a day.
Others looked for hope. Rebels sat outside the city walls, trying hard to survive. Some even submitted to torment to leave this. Hope was fading. Obviously nothing could be done about the King or it seemed that way at least. Hope was fading away, faster and faster with each passing day.
After decades and decades of the King's unchanging youth, he began hunting the Rebels. Tainting black canines and felines, he created two hunting races: the Aseto and the Serimo. These two races were black as black in coat, with piercing whites eyes and vibrated blue markings that showed their loyalty to the King. They left the city at night, killing rebels in great numbers.
Finding cities to hide, the rebels began growing in safe numbers. They created connected underground cities and outposts, all of which had names that would never be remembered and locations that would never be found. They began to grow. Not in numbers that would soon be an army to conquer the King any time soon, but in time it would.
Knowing that building an army would take a very long time, the rebels asked the last wild animals for help. The wild animals, terrified by the King and what had become of their kinsmen, were reluctant to help. They agreed one something though, at long last. They agreed to help through something called the Untraceable.
The Untraceable was a legend created long ago about special animals that had earned the name Sprite. For an animal to be a Sprite, they had to be one of the wild animals and have the desire to help a person, even if it meant their life. The Untraceable legend said a Sprite could bound with a single person for their life, giving them gifts of their Sprite form.
The problem with the Untraceable legend was once an animal became a Sprite they could not age again until their person died. It meant animals would not be able to reproduce as swiftly, because these animals mated for life, and some may even go extinct. They asked the rebels protect them in exchange for this gift.
Agreeing swiftly, the rebels protected the wild animals who agreed to this legend (mostly predatory animals)and were gifted with the Sprites. Sprites would bound with children and these children grew to be very strong. The rebels were getting closer to hope of an army.
But of course, these things never last long. Something always goes wrong. In this case, something went very wrong.
Three of the some 20 underground cities were found. The largest cities and those with the most Sprites that had bounded. The Aseto and the Sermio were merciless at first, killing without waiting. Then, they saw the children that had bounded with Sprites. Thinking that it was merely the children, the hunting beasts captured the children and carried them away.
True, the children could change into their own complete form without their Sprite, but they were not as powerful. This did not matter to the King. He started using this technique himself. Soon, there were more wild animals than ever before, many forced into becoming Sprites. Sometimes, with luck, a child was born with a Sprite within them. Sadly, these usually died untimely deaths from other birth defects.
Hope if fading again. The rebels have barely started to recover, their cities smaller and more guarded than ever before. The Sprites are not their secret weapon. There is very little hope of destroying the King now. Life is fading away, and for nearly everyone, it's getting worse.
Where are you in the mess?
Note on story: Yes, I admit that the All the Kings Men RP inspired pieces of this, but it is an original story over all. Either way, I highly suggest you check that one out if you like this one.

Workers are the creatures of this world that did not leave the kingdom when the king came and you suffer unbelievable amounts for it. A life as a worker is poor and without any benefits for given hope. Most don't have it. There are six breeds of worker breeds: The Peri, the Aont, the Berido, the Shadow Gliders, the Tellus and the Terix. (Check Creatures section for more.)
Only the six working breeds can be workers.

The rebels are those who know that this is evil, who want to change for the better. many have died for this cause, and many do not care if they see next morning's sunrise. But be warned, if you are a rebel, you are always hunted and always hunting. The moment your family ran away from the King's rule, anyone of your blood is now wanted.
Anyone can be a rebel, save the Drexhounds, the Draghounds, the Aseto, the Serimo, the Beron and the Sucraw.

Servants are the four higher breeds of creatures. They loyally serve the King, with their whole lives. All the animals are bound to serve the King, but only the Aseto and the Serimo have markings that that allow themselves to be controlled by the King. The servants are treated greatly, but only the Draghounds and the Drexhounds receive care.
There are five Servant breeds: the Draghouds, the Drexhounds, the Aseto, the Serimo and the Sucraw.

Runes are typically those who are born with bounded powers that don't die. While it is commonly believed that these die of birth defects, in reality, they become Runes for the King because this is still very rare. Or, they are taken because they have great powers.

Slaves are usually captured animal, creature or human rebels. Some are those who had some potential even if they did not manage to complete their normal tasks. Though they are punished to the lowest class as a slave, to serve in the castle for servants or to do the most unspeakable jobs that are not suppose to slip the castle walls, they are not killed, which could say that the King has some mercy.
Anyone can be a slave, save the Drexhounds, the Draghounds, the Aseto, the Serimo, the Beron and the Sucraw.

Nobles are those of the six working classes who submit completely to the King, offering their life. They are marked with brands similar to those the Aseto and the Serimo bear. The Nobles are used like a hidden task force, only used if a rebel force was spotted that the Aseto and the Serimo could not handle.
Only the six working breeds and the Beron can be Nobles.

Creatures:
Working -
The Aont ~ The Aont is the largest working breed, in size, not in numbers. They serve as guards of the castle and messengers, though they never set clawed paw beyond the second wall of the castle grounds. The Aont never have their wings removed because the wings are connected to vital bones. If an Aont loses its wings, it's simply a cruel form of death.
http://i23.servimg.com/u/f23/15/43/87/93/the_ao10.jpg
The Berido ~ The Berido are the second most common breed, and only barely behind. They run the cavern farms because their lean bodies and agile frames allow they to explore, plant and care from every bit of ground that can support plant life. The cavern farms are not ugly, unlike the city's current status. They caverns are filled with gems that reflect sunlight and beautiful semi-clean rivers. They are rocky and hard to climb in many places, but the Berido are skilled for this work.
http://i23.servimg.com/u/f23/15/43/87/93/the_be10.jpg
The Peri ~ The Peri is the smallest working breed, in size and numbers. They run population check, insuring that no breed is out of control. They are the only working breed who has a chance to enter the castle, though only for a brief while, to get a count for Servant breeds. The Peri do not order that these races breed, but suggest how many children should be born each month for each breed.
http://i23.servimg.com/u/f23/15/43/87/93/the_pe10.jpg
The Shadow Glider ~ The Shadow Glider is one of the few breeds gifted with flight. With that flight, they are expected to carry messages and bring supplies back from the cavern mines. The King's empire plans to grow once the rebels are gone, so the Shadow Gliders are expected to betray rebels if they find their locations and have seen many miles of the world. The Shadow Gliders have to work fast and bring good news, or they are striped of flight and work with the Terix or Berido, more commonly the Terix.
http://i23.servimg.com/u/f23/15/43/87/93/the_sh10.jpg
The Tellus ~ The Tellus are common laborers, very likely to work in mines or in the city. The Tellus, like the Shadow Gliders, can have their wings removed, but the Tellus will then work in the mines for life. The Tellus also work with trade, forming stock piles for the winter for the castle, the measly piles for all the workers and slaves and food sent for trade. They are in charge of all other items traded as well in the same way.
http://i23.servimg.com/u/f23/15/43/87/93/the_te10.jpg
The Terix ~ The Terix are the most common breed and the dirty and heavy labor workers. They make sure that the city is working at a level that won't make all the creatures drop dead from poor sanitation, make sure the castle is clean outside the walls, removed waste and corpses and all the other jobs.
http://i23.servimg.com/u/f23/15/43/87/93/the_te11.jpg
Serving -
The Draghounds ~ The Draghounds are the rarest breed of Creature and serve as the highest and most hidden guards of the King. They are so rare, that only the King and the Drexhounds really know about them. The Draghounds are provided with blind servants because of their appearance. They are not skeletons. All their other organs and natural coat does not appear, making only their bones visible.

http://i23.servimg.com/u/f23/15/43/87/93/the_dr12.jpg (Female)
The Drexhounds ~ The Drexhounds are well know, the undying warriors and guards of the King. They are common and their long mane is commonly red but not always so. These are the largest of all Creatures, barely matching the Draghounds, but much larger than the Aont.

http://i23.servimg.com/u/f23/15/43/87/93/the_dr13.jpg (Female)
The Aseto ~ The Aseto are former black canines that now serve the King without will. Their wills were replaced when they were marked. They are not unknown to have horns or faint coloring to the eyes.
http://i23.servimg.com/u/f23/15/43/87/93/the_as10.gif
The Serimo ~ The Serimo are former black felines that now serve the King without will. Their wills were replaced when they were marked. They are not unknown to have wings or faint coloring to the eyes.
http://i23.servimg.com/u/f23/15/43/87/93/the_se10.gif
Humanoid -
Fairy ~ The Fairies were originally a type of creature called the Diflaa (Looks: [x]). Using dark magic, the King crossed the Diflaa with humans, creating the Fairies. Still partial to insects, the Fairies fly with two part wings. The King can return them to a Diflaa form.
Arit ~ The Arits were originally a type of creature called the Atreo (Looks: [x]) Using dark magic, the King crossed the Atreo with humans, creating the Arits. Still partial to birds and dragons, the Arits fly with feathered or scaled wings. The King can return them to an Atreo form.
Supel ~ The Supels were originally a type of creature called the Resi (Looks: [x]) Using dark magic, the King crossed the Resi with humans, creating the Supels. Still partial to animals of all breeds, the Supels live with ears and tails. The King can return them to a Resi form.
Sucraw ~ The Sucraw are a humanoid race built to be servants. The spawn of slaves, the Sucraw serve the King without any desire to rebel. The Sucraw are all gifted with the power to scry a person while they sleep and influence their thoughts as they rest.
This race is mainly female.
http://i23.servimg.com/u/f23/15/43/87/93/sucraw10.jpg
Beron ~ The Baron are a humanoid race built to be workers. The spawn of slaves, the Baron work as fishermen in the poor waters of the city, trying to collect food for the King and, rarely, themselves. Baron are lower than any other working breed, so they are feed the left overs of their food.
